In 2002, the self-identified gay-Christian activist and author released his first book, LOVE LIFTED ME: In Spite Of The Church. In it, he vividly described his religious upbringing through COGIC and other Pentecostal denominations, while also discovering he was attracted toward individuals of his same gender. In painful detail, he described the inward inflictions he suffered at the lips and hands of zealous, yet well meaning Christians, and how God’s loving guidance led him through every religious trial before also leading him to his his first “Damascus Road.” In it, like most outspoken gay-Christians today, before both God and man, Godfrey vehemently defended gay-Christianity and the innate and social validity of homosexuality, presenting the compelling argument that since being born gay is a natural and valid human experience then homosexuality must be a natural and valid human origin and lifestyle. “Then on July 19, 2005, everything about my life drammatically changed,” the author writes in OPPOSITES: Spiritually Understanding Same-G-Gender-Attraction, his newest divinely inspired epistle…
